I primarily work with TPU, which is a nightmare for oozing, stringing, blobs.

I'm about to start a new testing regime and plan on experimenting with this feature. Are you familiar with presure advance?

ThanksAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09891140674943941572noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1024848558336119865.post-44460553873418429132018-04-05T22:41:59.382-04:002018-04-05T22:41:59.382-04:00Quite remarkable huh John? And Michael's right, going the full 4mm as suggested is great.

Right now I'm printing some CarbonX (CF-filled PETg) which I just received this afternoon. Not only does it appear at this point to be the best filament I've yet found, it's the first PETg I know of which responds to Z-hopping every bit as well as PLA does.Michael Pankratzhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09279497484931179772noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1024848558336119865.post-20148738717373921802018-04-05T22:27:53.654-04:002018-04-05T22:27:53.654-04:00Agreed - I've got my Z-hop set to 0.18mm with ...Agreed - I've got my Z-hop set to 0.18mm with a 0.20 layer height. Thank you Michael, your idea of using a big Z-hop to snap the filament ooze is the best tip I've come across in quite some time!

Somewhere I'd gotten the idea that hops are likely to cause trouble so I'd limited them to an amount equal to just the layer height, to ensure the nozzle's clearing the previous layer -- setting it to 2mm is a huge eye-opener. You're the best!Michael Pankratzhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09279497484931179772noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1024848558336119865.post-39186310057313235102017-11-02T17:23:52.210-04:002017-11-02T17:23:52.210-04:00I did mean 4mm for PLA. I'll double check and add them if not.

Thanks Phil!SublimeLayershttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07266175443539080935noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1024848558336119865.post-91553693256369678142017-11-02T17:15:08.541-04:002017-11-02T17:15:08.541-04:00Michael - thank you for an excellent second part i...Michael - thank you for an excellent second part in a series.
One question - in your hop section you mention a short hop for pla 'short rapid hop of 4mm or so' - do you mean 4mm or 0.4mm?
I have tried your filament calibration tool, but alas it won't fit my calipers - the bottom of my calipers are too thick and a wheel gets in the way at the bottom - but i will persevere and create my own version.
Again thank you for sharing your knowledge on 3d printing.
Philchattering monkey brainhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09465889836953530759noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1024848558336119865.post-48670077153741678952017-11-01T10:45:46.511-04:002017-11-01T10:45:46.511-04:00Thanks FranciscoJS12Thanks FranciscoJS12SublimeLayershttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07266175443539080935noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1024848558336119865.post-80198195480305713992017-11-01T10:45:27.776-04:002017-11-01T10:45:27.776-04:00I am writing a book and a lot of this is informati...I am writing a book and a lot of this is information from the book that I'm sharing here. I'm hoping that folks will appreciate that and support my work by buying the book where things will be more organized and higher production quality, etc! But, there may be an opportunity to package some of these up in PDFs too. I'll think about that. I really don't like the formatting in my blog template either so that would give me more creative freedom with layout, fonts and such.SublimeLayershttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07266175443539080935noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1024848558336119865.post-76884184494046039922017-10-31T23:08:58.037-04:002017-10-31T23:08:58.037-04:00Another great piece about the never ending problem...Another great piece about the never ending problem of stringing.
